Handmade Dreams

permanent exhibition

Just like Czech glass, Czech fashion jewellery has been a well-known term since the 18th century. Fashion jewellery from Bohemia has always been a synonym of quality and has managed to satisfy the tastes of customers from all corners of the world. Terms like ‘Bijoux de Boheme’, ‘Jablonec Goods’ or ‘Jablonex’ still resonate with the public.

The Czech Republic still belongs amongst the largest producers of glass semi-finished products, such as seed beads, beads and jewellery stones. However, it is not just semi-finished products that the contemporary Czech fashion jewellery offers. It is also finished jewellery products designed in line with the latest fashion and design trends.

This exhibition and its curatorial selection aims to present the up-to-date trends in Czech fashion jewellery, ranging from traditional designs through contemporary trends to visions represented by a selection of winning designs of the Master of Crystal competition. The largest producer of fashion jewellery in the Czech Republic is the company Preciosa and there are dozens other companies in the Jablonec region among them, as well as ones that work together with iconic fashion brands such as Nina Ricci, Gaultier or Karl Lagerfeld. We are honored to have the exhibition to introduce the company AAC, G & B Bijoux, Odvárka Bijoux, Ralton and Šenýr Bijoux.

In the Liberec region, three schools in particular have been essential in upholding this proud craft and jewellery tradition: the Secondary School and College in Jablonec nad Nisou, Zelezny Brod Glass School and the Technical University of Liberec - Jewellery & Jewelery (studio). Finally, visitors can also see examples of the work of contemporary jewelery and designer brands (Zorya and LLEV studio).
